Bender type: Firebender
A woman of average height with shoulder-length dark brown hair and stunning features, typically wearing a short white and brown maritime-themed dress, with matching gloves and ankle-high boots. She also wears a belt with a compass attached, for more carrying space she also has a satchel which she wears over a shoulder as well as a long red coat with Fire Nation emblems on the shoulders. Akane also has a distinctive tattoo of a small salamander around her left ankle.
Determined, intelligent and friendly, Akane has a strong drive to see new sights and meet new people. While she dislikes immediately turning to violence she's not one to turn down a fight. She also demonstrates enough self-confidence to speak her mind and out against others, more often than not landing herself in a fight. Curiously Akane enjoys meditation and Tai Chi despite not being particularly spiritual, using it to focus and relax. At times she's been known to quote various writers, either as commentary in the situation or as a source of advice.
Akane is quick to step into matters where she feels people are being treated unfairly, feeling that the philosophy of unity set by the Fire Nation gives everyone a voice. Even in dangerous situations she's unlikely to be disheartened and keeps fighting on. Despite the fierce determination Akane can eventually lose faith in herself, though she tries to stay positive for as long as she can. She doesn't however, like being underground for long and suffers from mild claustrophobia after being used to a wide open ocean for practically all her life.
At her heart Akane is still a merchant and is still interested in the prospect of money or other lucrative deals. She also believes that people should be allowed to follow their own path in life, as such Akane holds a strong grudge against the rebellion.
Akane has a particular flair for the dramatic, especially in fights. When moving around rapidly she will often produce fire arcs from her hands, creating glowing trails to draw the opponent's attention. This tendency caused her father's crew to give her the nickname "Firedancer".
Due to her reluctance to kill, Akane eventually learned how to channel her enhanced fire and jet propulsion techniques into unarmed combat, using it to drastically increase the force of physical attacks to incapacitate opponents. Typically she avoids enemy attacks for as long as possible in order to get into position before delivering a heavy strike. After practice, Akane is also a proficient lightningbender but holds back on using the skill until it's absolutely required, conserving her energy and keeping it as an ace in the hole.
Born to Hayate and Izumi, fire bending sailors who made up part of a merchant fleet who traded with the other nations. When within the Fire Nation Akane's family lived on a small town on one of the outlying islands. Both of her parents sailed together, with Hayate as captain and Izumi as his trusted first officer, travelling around the world to visit various large trading hubs. Akane is the eldest of two twin sisters and formed a strong bond with her sister, Mizu, from birth.
Akane demonstrates a strange fondness for fire even as a baby, becoming lost in the dancing flicker whenever she started staring at a flame. Eventually she demonstrated her first ability to fire bend at the age of six when out on deck with the rest of the crew who were showing off fire bending tricks, throwing a small arc prompted immediate cheers from the crew who hadn't expected her to show any skills yet.
Both parents helped train Akane and Mizu in their fire bending; their father focused on martial arts and physical training while their mother taught them about spirituality and balance, teaching them to always maintain a sense of right and wrong and to stand up for her ideals. Akane learned quickly, keeping her promise to her mother to never abuse her abilities while demonstrating a potent, if raw, talent.
Akane and her sister learnt many skills from the crew on their journeys back and forth between the Fire Nation and their various destinations. Akane demonstrated a particular knack for handling boats of various size, navigation and exploration while Mizu proved to be the better strategist and talented at fine control over her fire bending, using it to weld or cut metal as needed. Akane has never beaten her sister in Pai Sho, while Mizu has never won an Agni Kai duel against her.
As she became older her parents gave both sisters each a small ship to sail within the fleet, ferrying parts and supplies between the larger ships. While she may have inherited her mother's looks it was quite clear that both of her parents had passed down their sense of adventure and exploration to Akane, often exploring the ports they arrived in for hours on end. Eventually Akane left the trading fleet to explore Republic City and potentially find new trading contacts at the age of 23, promising to come back one day while leaving her ship in the hands of Mizu.
The user's punches and kicks will automatically create small arcs of fire from them as they strike that spills forward in the direction of the attack.
The user is able to shoot small blasts of fire in rapid succession toward something.
The user is able to create a belt of flames which they can use to strike and burn with.
The user is able to increase the heat of the air, objects and liquids.
The user is able to, if timed correctly, break away or deflect other fire attacks.
(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed.)
The user is able to create a large semi-dense stream of fire in a given direction from a physical attack that can strike and even topple something hit by it. (Achieved after 1 week)
The user is able to create intense bursts of flames from their hands and feet which can be used to propel them through the air for a short time. (Achieved after 2 weeks)
Sun Warrior(Achieved after 1 month)
The user is able to create thin blades of fire from their melee attacks which are capable of cutting objects as well as burn them. While performing this technique, the user cannot use any other form of firebending techniques.
The user sends forth a massive fireball which explodes into a torrent of flames upon contact. The user must take time to build up this attack and is vulnerable while doing so.
The user's flames become enhanced and burn much hotter than normal. The user is able to change the color of their flames as they wish (excluding black flames) and can simultaneously use two different colors.
The user can launch a stream of fire which they can guide towards the target, allowing them to target more agile opponents. The user is immobile while using this power.
(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed. Also, Master level powers can only be achieved after 7 months and require 2 open power slots.)
The user gains a partial resistance to normal flames from other people (excluding Enhanced Fire, Fire Breath and Wall of Flames) and natural sources as well as a near complete immunity to their own flames. (Achieved after 2 months)
The user is able to focus their fire so effectively that it can become lightning. The lightning is far quicker and more unstable than fire and cannot be blocked or redirected by any means other than another person who can Lightningbend redirecting it. Creating lightning takes a huge toll on the user and if used more than a few times without a large break it will likely backfire on the user and injure them. (Achieved after 7 months)
