Samir: It was a typical night in Republic City. Samir was walking through one of the shelters with his eel-hound, Baldar, behind him. Samir began handing out food to several of the impoverished citizens.

Ginji: He chuckles as he broke into the same shelter. He came in through the backway and began pouring lighter fluid on the ground. He was paid by a contractor to burn it all to the ground. So he could take the land and use it for his own benefit. He had fantasies about how people would scream and bodies would roast.

Samir: Samir noticed Baldar turn his head and begin growling angrily. Samir questioned the eel-hound what was wrong. Baldar replied with a low grunt, causing Samir to grow serious. "I'll be back soon," Samir told the poor people he aiding. He then readied himself on Baldar, grabbing his reins tightly. "Let's go then," he told his pet, and the eel-hound suddenly began sprinting at incredible speeds. The hound quickly ran through the shelters, only stopping on occasion to stop and lift its head to listen and sniff. At one of these stops, Samir also surveyed the area, noticing someone pouring a strange liquid on the ground. Samir recognized the liquid immediately. "You there. What exactly are you planning to do with that?" Baldar also began growling at the stranger as Samir dismounted from him.

Ginji: "Bah just a job, nothin major." He said casually, like he was pulling a simple errand. "Glad you could show up to my barbeque by the way.." He grinned as he turned on his lighter and tossed it to the ground. He dashed out of the door as the room erupted in flames. Threatening to roast Samir and Baldar.

Samir: Baldar lept to the side to save himself and his master from the eruption of fire. Samir paused to look at the fire. "A lot of people are going to get hurt unless I do something..." he said to himself. He then glanced at a small well nearby and back at the fire, getting an idea. Samir lept from Baldar. He then looked towards the eel-hound as he readied his staff.  "Just like in the Earth Kingdom, boy. I'll go after him, you take care of the fire." The eel-hound groaned, wanting to pursue the stranger, but accepted his master's order and ran towards the well, beginning to gulp up much of the water. Samir began sprinting down the road, pursuing the criminal who started the fire.

Ginji: "Aw isn't that just cute?" He mused as he saw Samir in the corner of his eye. "This isn't your business motherfucker!" He declares as he turns around and hurls 3 shuriken at his pursuer. Before climbing up a fire escape, headed towards the rooftop.

Samir: Baldar began spraying water on the fire, causing it to slowly shrink. Samir utilized his acrobatics and lept in the air, contorting his body between the three shuriken to remain unscathed. He then quickly flipped himself onto a nearby awning, then propelling himself up towards the roof.

Ginji: He quickly arrived on top of the roof, turning to see Samir. He drew his katana, his eyes full of bloodlust and confidence as he looked over his prey. "You're not gonna leave me alone are ya?" He stepped closer, wondering if he'll run away or stand his ground.

Samir: Samir spun his staff several times and readied it for combat. His expression grew very serious "This run-down shelter is all these people have to their name," he told the stranger. "Why burn what little they have?"

Ginji: "Sucks for them man, all I know is.. some fat dude paid me to burn down that crappy shelter." He rested his katana on his shoulder, seeming relaxed. "What I wanna know is..why the fuck do you care?" He stepped closer to him, hoping to try and slice his throat mid-sentence.

Samir: Samir quickly held his staff in a blocking position. There's no reasoning with this man, he thought to himself. He stared at Ginji and told him, "Reasons selfish men like you refuse to try and understand." Meanwhile, Baldar was succeeding in dousing most of the fires the criminal had started.

Ginji: The fire has caused some serious damage to the shelter, a couple people received serious burns. Two small children were crushed by the debris. Fortunately, a brigade of waterbenders had arrived to fight the flames to prevent further casualties. Back at the rooftop, Ginji yawned as he hurled two more shuriken at Samir. Right before attempting a powerful cut into his ankle with his katana, prepared for him to move either left or right to avoid his first attack.

Samir: Baldar began using his head to try and lift the debris in attempt to free the two children, who managed cries of help before being crushed by the debris. Back on the rooftop, Samir spun around and ducked to avoid the shurikens, although one did manage to tear a small piece off his cloak. He then somersaulted into the air a split-second later as Ginji swung his katana at his ankle, jumping over Ginji and landing perfectly on his feet. He then swung his staff horizontally shortly after landing, aiming for Ginji's shoulder.

Ginji: He groaned in pain as the staff struck it's target. He quickly turned around, not used to fighting non-benders with his agility. He quickly attempted to grab the center of his staff before hurling his katana towards his left hip, hoping to cut deep. Back the shelter, the waterbender doused the flames. But sadly the two children were killed by the debris. The police managed to arrive and take all the people to safety. One of them confused as to why an eel hound was there.

Samir: Samir quickly flicked his wrist to rapidly spin his staff  to smack away his opponent's hand. However, he noticed the thrown katana a bit too late, causing his hip to still get scraped. Samir grimmaced at the pain but maintained a tight grip on his staff. Offly riskly to throw away his main weapon, he thought to himself. He may still have something up his sleeve. Samir backed up a few inches to distance himself as he quickly tucked part of his cloak into his robes to quell some of the bleeding. At the shelter, Baldar groaned lowly at the sight of the children, nudging them a bit with his noes. He looked up towards a building, noticing his master in danger. Baldar growled angrily and prepared to sprint to the aid of his master.

Ginji: He quickly held the side of his blade next to his head. Gripping his blade tightly, he attempts to slice into his right hand after charging forward. Since Ginji went for an attack to his torso last time, he hopes Samir will be taken by surprise.

Samir: Samir's mind moved quickly as he watched his opponent charge him. Assuming the assailant believed he would try to dodge again, Samir took a few quick steps forward and jabbed with the staff, aiming for his opponent's gut.

Ginji: He quickly jumped high into the air, avoiding the attack and placing him in the position to attempt kicking him square in the nose. Hoping to use the momentum to increase damage.

Samir: Samir managed to pull back his head at the last second, but his assailant still managed to scrape his nose a bit. As he got hit, however, he forced himself to swing his staff upward to try and get a hit in. He's not as carelessly aggressive as I thought, Samir thought to himself. He's a skilled killer. As Samir re-focused, he noticed Baldar leep and land about 6 feet behind his opponent.

Ginji: "Dammit.." He groaned the staff managed to somewhat hit his back. He landed on the ground and turned to see Baldar. "Nice to see your pet showed up, wonder how it tastes..." He licked his lips at the last part, as he lost interest in Samir and went after his noble steed instead. He attempted to slice into Baldar's left leg, somewhat wary of his fangs.

Samir: Not usually known for exuding confidence, Samir could not help but say, "You're making a big mistake." Baldar, having learned how to fight swords from his previous master, predicted the swordstrike perfectly. As soon as Ginji attempted to swing at him, Baldar flipped around, swinging its tail instantaneously to strike the sword out of the assailant's hand. Meanwhile, Samir approached Ginji from behind in attempt to choke him and pull him back with his staff.

Ginji: "The hell?!" He cries out as both attacks are successful, not expecting the beast to have such skill. He struggled for a few moments, remembering he had a few knives. He quickly grabbed one and attempted to stab him in the left thigh. If this is successful and Ginji is able to free himself. He'll quickly try to grab his sword and make a hasty retreat.

Samir: Samir winced as the knife dug into his thigh, causing him to loosen his grip and drop the staff. However, he had half-expected something like this. As soon as he released his grip on the staff, Samir stepped to the side, allowing the enormous eel-hound to try to leap and pin the opponent to the ground the instant he tried to run for his sword. Baldar's aim was to hold both of the man's arms and legs to the ground with his own enormous legs to prevent another sneak attack.

Ginji: He quickly grabbed his blade and pointed it upwards as he fell. He hoped it would impale Baldar through his chest, but it'd could also cut deep into his shoulder. He cursed under his breath, wishing he had some bombs or an electric glove.

Samir: The blade impaled Baldar's shoulder, but, being thicker and bulkier than the average eel-hound, he was not damaged too severly, as the blade did not dig too deep into his shoulder. All it did was anger him. Baldar remained on top of his assailant and began growling angrily straight in his face, barring his fangs very close to his face. Samir looked over in the distance to see people crowded around the bodies of the two dead children. His eyes grew very dark. Samir removed the knife from his thigh, picked up his staff in his free hand, and walked over to Baldar and his trapped opponent. He moved the knife close to the assailant's neck, saying angrily, "Don't move. Just look at yourself. Look at what's been done here. So many poor shelter destroyed, and children dead. Just for a few scraps of paper, which you won't be getting. Before I do more..." Samir tone changed to a calm one, also one of intrigue. "I want you to try and justify to me why you've done what you've done. I've met some terrible, perhaps even heartless people. But I just can't comprehend how someone can be so numb while committing such destruction."

Ginji: He was barely focusing on Samir's word, more interested in Baldar. "Nice pet, know where I can get one?" He chuckled, impressed with his rage. "How fun is it to just sit on your throne? Trying to be this good little boy, I've seen men try to act like they save the world. And y'know what? They end up dead like the good for nothing suckers they were with nothing to even show for it. Now if you excuse me." He dropped his katana, with his free hand he reached for his flask. "I am going to have my last drink as a free man..." He drank from it, but he quickly spat it out towards Baldar's bloody wound. It was very powerful and would cause an intense burning sensation. If this is successful and would give Ginji the chance he needs to escape, he'd gladly take it and dash away like a mad man. Not before spitting out the rest of his drink towards Samir's wound on his thigh, hoping for the same effect.

Samir: Baldar roared loudly and slumped to the ground. Samir managed to shield his thigh wound with his cloak to avoid it getting inflected by the suspicious liquid. Samir's lowered his head, trembling with rage. However, noticing Baldar suffer immensly, his own wounds, and the numerous ongoers now looking at him, he dropped the knife, pushing Ginji away from him and off the roof, enough to distance himself from the criminal in hopes of ending the fight but not enough to seriously wound him. Samir shouted for a waterbending healer before turning to talk to the criminal. "No, you're right, I'm not a hero. In fact, I'm usually quite the pacifist. Being a vigilante's not what I came to this city to do. I'm solely here to help to poor live better lives." He paused. "You're a monster, not a human. I could have killed you if I really wanted to. But it's not my place, and you are still a living, breathing creature." He looked to see some police officers driving to the scene in the far distance. "Whether the police catch you now or sometime in the future is not my business. Go for now, but should we meet again and you hurt the poor, I may have to bend some of my practices." Samir expected most of his words to have no affect on the criminal; rather, it was his way to assure himself that what he was doing was the right thing to do according to his beliefs.

Ginji: He applauded a bit. "Nice lil speech, all I know is...I want a fuckin rematch. We'll meet again charity case!" And with that, he dashed off. Considering getting a pet for himself as he jumped from the rooftop and onto another. Some cops quickly pursued him, but two stopped for Samir and Baldar. One was somewhat short and had glasses, he quickly got to work on healing Baldar with his waterbending. Another was taller and possessed black hair.

Yagura: "Sir how severe are your wounds? Can you tell us what happened exactly?"

Samir: Baldar initially tried resisting the cop until Samir calmed him. Samir then looked at his thigh, noticing it was bleeding pretty bad. He also wiped some blood off his nose, which also was cut but to a lesser degree. "Nothing a days or 2's rest won't heal," he told the cop. "As for what happened, the man who ran off set fire to most of the shelter, causing debris which appears to have caused some child casualties."

Yagura: "Once Hanji is done with you, he can look at those as well. Such a tragedy..." He mused as the corpses were taken away, while the injured were driven off to a nearby hospital. Yagura took out a notepad and a pen. "Can you give me a description of the offender? Hair color? Any unusual features?" He inquired.

Samir: Samir also observed the wreckage before continuing. "He looked a bit younger than myself, with red hair and wore dark clothing. A pretty rough looking figure, perhaps a bit shorter than me but not that much if he is. He had lots of swords and knives on him as well as some pretty vital poison."

Yagura: "Thank you." He quickly jotted down the notes as he noticed Ginji's flask, he obviously dropped it during his escape. "I'm guessing it was alcohol?" He looked in disgust, not above considering it a poison. Hanji was finished with Baldar, the wound had stopped bleeding looked like it had a few days to heal. He warned Samir about how the beast should take it easy for a while. Before offering to investigate the cut to his hip.

Samir: Samir observed the flask, remembering how Ginji had put the liquid in his mouth before spitting it and releasing if it were really poison, Ginji could not have swished it in his mouth for as long as he did. "Alcohol does burn on open cuts, so perhaps the heat of the moment made me directly assume poison,"  he told Yagura. Samir then looked to Hanji. "Thank you, I'll make sure he doesn't do anything crazy." He then untucked part of his cloak to reveal the wound. "I don't think it's that serious to be honest. I've gone through far worst."

Hanji only closed up the wound a bit, not wanting to take the chance of it bleeding out. The next morning a news report was released about the incident. Ginji's identity was unknown, but there was a warrant out for his arrest. To avoid suspicion, Ginji's client never bought the land. So a benefactor had announced plans to rebuild the establishment and finance the funeral of the two young victims. Life went on in Republic City~
