Template:Forumheader Name: Iluq

Age: 16

Species: Non-Bender

Alignment: Neutral Good

Personality: Iluq is generally very quiet and shy, but inside her burns the passion to become a fierce warrior. She is strong and determined, and she puts 120% into everything she does. She is ashamed at her non-bender status, so doesn’t often share this fact with others. She has a huge heart and is very compassionate, always putting those she loves before herself. Iluq admires those more powerful than her, and strives to one day be as powerful as them, aspiring to be a great chi blocker or weapons master some day.

Appearance:

History: Iluq was born to Miki and Nanuq in a remote area of the North Pole. Her parents had migrated away from the more populated areas in the hopes of finding a slice of peace and quiet away from their loud families. As she grew up in isolation she bonded closely with her family, and the few arctic wildlife around her family’s hut.

When she was six her mother started taking her on trips into civilisation to gather supplies for the long winters. The two of them would travel through a day and night to reach the closest civilised area, then they would gather supplies and head back home. Everytime Iluq was allowed to go she would cling tightly to her mother, due to her lack of people skills, and silently admire the beauty of water bending. She would return home and try to manipulate water or ice, but to no avail. Still, she persisted with this until the age of ten, thinking that perhaps those skills came over time.

Once her mother told her, in a broken voice, that she simply did not have the ability to waterbend, and Iluq fell into a state of depression. Every day for two years (until she was twelve) she left her family hut everyday with a pickaxe and journeyed to the glaciers where she let out her anger by hacking up ice into cubes and, over the course of the two years, building a sizeable igloo. The igloo became her haven where she went to let out her anger or simply escape her family for a while. Miki and Nanuq had faith in their daughter, so they were never concerned when she disappeared for a night or two.

One fateful day when Iluq was thirteen, she and her mother went into town for the supplies. Now that she was older, Miki allowed her to venture on her own amongst society, believing that she could handle herself. Iluq wandered around for a while until she saw a poster stuck onto the side of a hut, advertising Republic City. She stared at it for a while in awe, immediately believing that that was where she wanted to be. She grabbed the poster from the huts and shoved it into her knapsack, then ran back to her mother. When she returned home that evening she excused herself from her family and made the journey to her igloo. Once there, she stuck the poster up on the wall and picked up her pickaxe, going through motions she had seen waterbenders doing. She imagined herself as a weapons master that night as she fell asleep, brandishing a flashy weapon and going through fluid movements to defeat her enemies.

Between the ages of 13 and 16 Iluq eagerly looked forward to her trips into town with her mother. Every time she was able to get into town she would absorb as much information about Republic City as she could. She gradually learnt about weapons masters and also chi blockers, which was something that interested her. She grew stronger when she was not in town by hacking up ice and carrying it around. All the time she worked towards the ideal of living in Republic City. Eventually, on her sixteenth birthday, she asked her parents if she could go to live in Republic City, but they interrupted her.

“Iluq,” They said soothingly as they looked sadly at one another, “We already have bought you something for your birthday…” From within the folds of his coat, Nanuq pulled out a well worn envelope. He handed it over to Iluq somewhat reluctantly, as if he knew this might be the last he would see of her. Iluq looked at both her parents questioningly before she opened the envelope carefully. As soon as she saw the beautiful contents of the envelope, a ticket to Republic City and some money to start her life with, Iluq cried and hugged her parents tight. They admitted that while Miki and Iluq had been in town Nanuq scouted the location of Iluq’s igloo and found the poster of Republic City. The two of them then assumed it was what she really wanted, hence buying her a ticket.

Nanuq and Miki travelled with Iluq to the city and watched her board the boat, then returned home. Iluq spent the boat ride clutching onto her ticket and her dream of becoming a better person and starting a new life in Republic City.
