OOC Plans: So Mr Gou and Liu have a daughter now. Oops. Let's just say it was not planned. In terms of future plans, I want Gou to have a huge fashion show at City Hall where other users can have their chars model for him and earn some money, and I also need for him to work on becoming a father.

Appearance

Mr Gou is a tall, slim, and striking man. Standing at six feet and two inches, he's a grand size, though he often wears heeled boots to boost his height by a few inches. He has striking purple hair that he often slicks back with a part to the side, and he wishes he had the facial hair to grow a mustache, but alas, it was not meant to be. Peaking onto his forehead is the recognisable blue arrow of air nomads. He is always superbly dressed in fresh day suits or formal wear.

Personality

After a long period of time not knowing who he was, Gou now has a firm grasp on his sense of self and therefore often comes across as self-obsessed, although he is less so than others in his position. He does take pride in himself and his appearance, but not to the point where he points out his superiority to others or to the point where he'll spend hours working on his appearance. He has an admiration for strong and driven people, particularly women, and he loves even more to dress them. Fashion is his love, and he would not give it up for anything. As a result of working in such an industry, as well as his upbringing, Gou is very in touch with his feminine side. Mr. Gou is softly-spoken most of the time, and enjoys speaking words of wisdom he has learnt from the Air Nomads. He keeps his own interests as a priority, though he accepts that sometimes other people have to come first. He also follows many of the traditional values of Air Nomads, being vegetarian and a peacekeeper between his friends.

History

Born in the Southern Air Temple, Gou didn't even get to meet the monks that helped bring him into the world before he was whisked away to his mother's home outside the Fire Nation. She'd only gone to the Air Temple to give birth because she knew Gou's father had been an airbender, and she thought that going back there might bring them together again. It didn't, and Gou's mother left with her pride wounded. However, the journey back from the temple inspired her to start up her own business for women, encouraging them to move on with their lives after tough breakups. She offered therapeutic services such as massage, chocolate boxes, shopping sessions and radio support at any time of day.

She became quite famous for this, and earned a lot of money. As consequence, however, Gou was raised in this very feminine environment and never had a male role model to look up to, seeing as his mother swore off men. Like any normal child, Gou went to school, made friends, helped his mother with her work from time to time. He was five when he discovered his bending, although his mother had known it was coming. She sent Gou off to a mentor after school everyday; a man who had rejected living as a nomad in any of the air temples. He was a good teacher, but his bending lacked style or originality and so Gou hated him. For years he felt like he was an un-whole human, not having any male role models and being unable to unlock his masculine potential, or so he thought.

At the age of fifteen, after ten years with his mentor, Gou left home with the permission of his mother to go live with the nomads on Air Temple Island. Before, he hadn't been allowed to go as his mother wanted to teach him the ways of her business. She was already living a very comfortable life from her profit, and wanted to make sure her son would be able to benefit from her genius. So Gou learnt the ways of feminine-driven business, about client needs and money handling. His escape after the information overload was the serenity of Air Temple Island. He stayed with the Nomads for five years, learning their ways and assimilating into their culture. He became a vegetarian and received his arrow tattoos after four years, and he got along well with his fellow airbenders.

Still, he felt as if he didn't fit in. Even after such polarised lifestyles, Gou felt as if he hadn't found his place. After a year of self-searching and meditation, Gou finally discovered who he wanted to be and even hatched a plan on how to get there. He immediately left Air Temple Island and started afresh in Republic City, using some of his mother's contacts to start the gears on his life plan turning. He stayed with one of his mother's close friends for a few months before he was able to get a job at a clothing store and make a deposit on a small apartment. From there it was only an upwards ride for Gou.

At age 21 he was promoted and he began buying for the store. Within the year he was noticed by a designer and asked to collaborate on a new collection. Gou was in high demand for roughly a year because of his uncanny skills at being able to predict the movements of the fashion market, before he disappeared for three months when he was 23. Only his close friends knew where he was, so when he returned in spring with his own label and a debut fashion line the public was wowed and clambered for his designs. His clothing designs became staples almost overnight, and ever since then Gou has become a household name for the well-dressed.

Although, he's not simply Gou anymore. He is, and now forever will be, the eponymous Mr. Gou.

Cyclone Monk[]
(Achieved after 1 month)
Initial Powers[]
  • Air Barrier

The user can create a large dome of air around them which can be used to protect them and even others from harm and the barrier also redirects all projectiles back where they came from. The user is unable to take any other action while maintaining the barrier.

  • Air Wake

The user can build up massive momentum while running which can then be focused into a powerful concussive blast. The user becomes disoriented for a short time after using this power.

  • Tornado (Exclusive to Cyclone Monk)

The user can create a large tornado that will pull in anything near by and fill with debris which they can redirect for a short time. The user is unable to move while using this power as it takes heavy concentration.

  • Air Burst (Exclusive to Cyclone Monk)

The user draws in air from their surroundings and condenses it into a large sphere before releasing it as a concussive blast in front of them. The user is immobile while using this power.

Advanced Powers[]

(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed. Also, Master level powers can only be achieved after 7 months and require 2 open power slots.)

  • Enhanced Jumping (Passive)

The user is able to use gusts of air to jump about three times the height of a normal human (about 8-10 feet). (Achieved after 4 months)

  • Enhanced Speed (Passive)

The user is able to redirect air flow around them, removing air resistance and generating a wind current behind them, thus greatly increasing their running speed. (50-60 mph). The user cannot use the power to enhance the speed of their flight/gliding or jumping and they're vulnerable to fatigue and high-speed collision while running at these new speeds. (Achieved after 6 months)
