Bender type: Earthbender
With flawless pale skin and sleek black hair, Kojima has the look of an aristocrat. But his most striking feature is his eyes—born with one blue eye and one brown eye. His aristocratic features are considered handsome by many, but, once noticed, the eyes make him look a bit odd. Kojima possess a somewhat slender build, which might cause some to underestimate him in a fight. But he is actually fairly muscular from years of military conditioning, and his thin form gives him more agility. He stands at about 1.86 meters (which would be about 6'1, for those who don't use the metric system).
A quiet, reserved man, Kojima lives by the credo "speak little, listen always." Remaining silent most of the time, he likes to say that he prefers thinking over speaking. That being said, he has a very analytical mind—the man is always calculating and strategizing—which allows him to be a natural tactician and strategist. That fact has helped him greatly in his military career. However, as a result of his quiet and aloof nature, Kojima is generally regarded as a socially awkward individual who does not say much and prefers being solitary over companionship.
Although he is an Earthbender, the man's skill in that field is generally considered not much more than "decent" by his instructors and colleagues. That is because he prefers to use his genius to outsmart opponents, finding that to be much more interesting—and often much more effective—than simple brute force. He secretly looks down with contempt at those who frequently brag about their bending skill or flaunt their status about it, but he rarely lets his emotions show on the outside (always the diplomat). He is also a fairly good swordsman, from his days in the military, and can also handle other weapons competently, including knives and spears. Personally, he prefers regular weapons and technology over bending (seeing that latter as overrated).
Kojima is willing to do whatever it takes to carry out his orders. That includes killing whoever gets in the way. However, that doesn't mean he is necessarily heartless (although sometimes it may appear that he certainly leans in that direction), but he does not show his emotions very often. Many people who meet him view him to be a cold, unfeeling, and distant person, though that is not entirely the case. The man does have a few people that he considers comrades, and is quite at ease around them.
When it comes to politics, he despises the Earth Republic's leadership, thinking that a monarchy would be far better for providing stability and security while a republic provided opportunity for corruption. Kojima views those benders who rose up against technological advancements in the recent past as a group of fools, thinking that technology could be used to one's advantage no matter if they are a bender or not. He regards their entire movement as something of a joke, upon reading about it in the history books, and is glad that they are gone.
Valuing order, organization, and stability above all else, and so perhaps not surprisingly he finds the Republic City establishment as being too corrupt, and thinks that a new "revolution" is needed to save the city from stagnation and collapse. Kojima has witnessed the rise of crime in the city and is despises the current regime for not doing enough about it. Although he remains a cop, Kojima is quite disillusioned with the government, only staying in the RCPD for an opportunity to rise to power himself—to advance his own political ambitions of restoring order to the City.
Hailing from the southeastern Earth Republic, Kojima was born into a minor noble house in a town not far from Gaoling. His family had ruled the town and its surrounding province as vassals of the Earth monarchy for generations, but with the fall of the Earth Queen, their house was unable to suppress a revolution by the people. Now, they live in middle class conditions, like the average person (their house's fall from grace in the aftermath of the overthrow of the monarchy may also have some influence on Kojima's dislike of the new republicanism that has since taken root in the former Earth Kingdom).
Kojima discovered he was an earthbender at the age of seven, when he got into a quarrel with a group of other children. He ended up accidently flinging rocks at them with bending, severely injuring several of the other kids. This would have gotten him into trouble if not for the fact that he used earthbending. His parents were pleased to discover that their son was an earthbender, and believed that he could rise to a position of prominence. They used some of the money they had to hire and instructor, and though he did become a capable fighter, Kojima was nothing remarkable when it came to earthbending (much to his parents' disappointment).
But Kojima did not intend to stay in the small town in the middle of nowhere (as he had said) and did plan on leaving. When he turned seventeen, the young man did what any middle class male could do to advance his status: enlist in the armed forces. Joining the Earth Republic Army, Kojima saw action against minor uprisings by a rebel group or two, and proved his worth as a commander. Kojima was promoted to the rank of captain after successfully overseeing a counterinsurgency operation against sandbender insurrectionists in the Si Wong Desert (following the death of his commanding officer). Working his way up the ranks with his military genius, it wasn't long before Kojima became part of an elite club—one of the youngest generals in the Earth Republic military.
However, being a staunch monarchist advocating for restoration of the Earth King, the young general made many enemies in the army high command. As republicans (as well as a bit jealous that a man half their age made it to the same rank as them), they demanded that Kojima is removed because he is an "enemy of the state." That cabal was the largest and most influential in the general staff, so the Republic government eventually bent its knee to their demands. Kojima was expelled for being involved in a "treasonous conspiracy" and of plotting a coup d'etat. He was then stripped of his rank and all state honors.
Leaving the Earth Republic behind, he decided to leave the country. It probably wasn't safe to remain there, as those enemies might attempt to get him in more direct ways. He had heard of the Republic City citizenship program and departed on the first boat to the "New World." The former general joined the Republic City Police Department due to his previous military experience. But to his disappointment, the leadership of Republic City seemed just as corrupt as the Earth Republic, and after a while, he determined that a revolution (or in other words, regime change) was necessary. As a result, Kojima ended up growing disillusioned with the whole government, but carried on with his duties as a police officer; thinking that he could somehow change things for the better from inside the police department.
The user can send a small boulder flying in any direction once struck which breaks apart into many smaller projectiles when it hits something.
The user is able to crush or even shatter anything made of stone without any force required.
The user is able to create a small wall made of stone which can be used to defend or obstruct a path.
The user is able to cause earth to levitate allowing them to use any earth they control as a moderate defense or even to allow time to prepare an attack.
The user is able to compress earth into a much denser state allowing them to harden soil or stone for stronger offense or defense. The user must take time to compress the earth.
(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed.)
The user is able to craft a gauntlet of stone around their arm which enhances their blunt attacks. (available since 7 August 2015) (Achieved after 1 week)
The user is able to pull together many stones around them in order to form a makeshift shelter as a defense around them or something else. They can also use it to encase an enemy. (available since 14 August 2015) (Achieved after 2 weeks)
Stone Guardian(Achieved after 1 month)
The user is able to create jets of stone out of the ground which can be used to launch things into the air as well as a sort of spring to soften falls from high distances.
The user is able to create gloves and shoes out of stone to be used for enhanced melee attacks as well as used as projectiles to bind others. The user can not use any other form of earthbending while controlling the gloves or shoes.
The user is able to surround their entire body in gem which enhances their melee attacks as well as defends against attacks against them. The user is slowed considerably while wearing the armor. Users also have the option of coating their bodies in regular stone, this armor would reduce mobility restrictions, stone would be easier to gather than crystal and stone is obviously easier to break than crystal.
The user can sink enemies and objects into the ground, trapping them within the earth. Sinks take a moment to form and only a maximum of two can be sustained at once. Requires line of sight.
(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed. Also, Master level powers can only be achieved after 7 months and require 2 open power slots.)
The user is able to manipulate the top soil of the ground into a sort of wave in order to move more quickly as well as topple others off their feet. (available since 1 October 2015) (Achieved after 2 months)
The user is able to bend sand in order to obstruct sight. The user can create sand from stone as well as condense sand back into stone. (available since 1 December 2015) (Achieved after 4 months)
The user is able to sense their surroundings by feeling tremors in the ground. This allows the user to 'see' with their earthbending in a large area around them. (available since 1 January 2016) (Achieved after 6 months)
