|Nienkou was raised in the Fire Nation, living with his mother and father whom enjoyed taking him on their journeys about the Fire Nation and it's borders, at age 6, he discovered, if only by accident, that he could firebend when he accidently set a table on fire, though Nienkou found it amusing, his parents did not. Shortly after this he began being taught by his father how to properly control his firebending, some things came quickly, others did not, but he enjoyed it, despite how badly some of his slip ups ended, his neighbors however despised his slip ups worst of all after he accidently hurled fire through their window and caught several things on fire, from rugs to chairs. Despite all this, Nienkou learned how to control his firebending better, at least enough to keep him out of trouble for the most part and much to the relief of others, and accept his failures as lessons for the future.
At age 16, during one of these journeys to enjoy the land his parents died during an attack by a group of wolves, Nienkou survived, his fury causing him to lash out at the wolves that killed his parents before him, burning them to cinders, along with several trees, for several years he mourned their passing. For a long time he wondered what would happen to him, what he would do, how he would live, this was quickly solved when his neighbors reluctantly took him in, on the promise he wouldn't firebend in their home, he made the promise and spent his time away from the house honing his firebending alone, lost in a daze when he was in their home, seeming lost, but he never once let them see him frowning, instead wearing a metaphorical mask of joy and thoughtfulness to cover his own pain.
When he was of age to be considered an adult, he took off on the first ship, wanting to be away from his home, to figure out who he was, who he wanted to be, and what he truly wanted to do with his life. when he was 22, he set his eyes on Republic city, seeing it as the place to go, his wandering had given him time to think, on the death of his parents and what it symbolized in his eyes; Life is short, and if one never makes their mark, they're doomed to go unnoticed. At this, he spent the next year preparing himself, honing his firebending further, before he headed off to get on a boat headed there. Upon arriving, he knew for certain his future was here, for better or worse, he'd make his name be known, but he wasn't going to run off recklessly into a wander this time, he had goals. The first goal being to learn to fit in, which took some time, even after finding an apartment to live in, a few months at best. Beyond his difficulties of fitting in with the city, he went through various and simple jobs, usually ending up leaving one job for another due to his distaste for doing the same thing for far too long, from sweeping to helping deliver packages of various sorts, not that he cared to remember who he worked for or when, all he could be bothered to remember was his goal, and through a year, he became more and more focused on finding a way to make it happen, but would it be as easy as it seemed in his head, this was what he questioned most each day.
