History
Satoshi was born in the Northern Air Temple, and grew up there for most of his life. Unlike the usual children from the Air Nation though, he wasn’t very cheerful and lacked a bright personality and tended only to himself for the most part. His childhood was simple and boring, and he learned to airbend at a young age under the tutelage of the monks without really having to interact with other people. As a result, he was often alone and he had no one to talked to. At first, it was perfect for him, because he didn’t have to get annoyed much, but as he grew, he realised that having a companion is something he wanted, and that he started getting jealous of the other air benders who had lots of friends. He then decided to put himself out there and find friends, and he finally met one on a filed trip when they all went to the Southern Air Temple. He met this guy, Kazuya, and they became really close after he saved Satoshi from some bullies who decided to pick on him because he was alone. After that incident, they started becoming the best of friends.
Even though they’re from different sides of the world, Satoshi and Kazuya still managed to keep in touch by sending each other letters and occasionally visiting each other. As their age increased, it became easier for them to make time to see each other, and after they’ve both turned 18, they decided to move out of their respective temples and live together in Ba Sing Se. It was tough at first, because the job they got at the factory sucked, and after Satoshi proclaimed that he didn’t want to work there anymore, Kazuya proposed that they become cops for the Earth Republic Capital. Hesitant at first, Kazuya’s enthusiasm proved too much to turn down for Satoshi, and he agreed with the idea. They both started training and did their best to graduate from police academy, eventually getting their badges. At this point in time, Satoshi found out that he liked guys more than girls, and he started to develop feelings for Kazuya. He was afraid, because he didn’t want it to ruin the friendship they had. And so he pined, for a long time.
Years passed and they got tighter, and Satoshi finally decided to tell Kazuya of his feelings for him. He did one night, when they were walking along the streets of the Middle Ring on their daily patrol. Satoshi was scared and embarrassed, but he was surprised when Kazuya smiled at him and told him that it was about time. He harboured feelings for Satoshi as well, and they shared a chaste kiss. However, it was cut short when they received an urgent call of a gang fight somewhere in the Lower Ring. They both rushed towards it, promising each other that they’ll talk about their relationship later that night. They didn’t get to, though.
Kazuya was killed in the mayhem after pushing Satoshi out of harm’s way. He was struck by a fire bender’s lightning, and he was dead right on spot. Satoshi mourned for weeks, crying himself to sleep each night. He finally had what he wanted and it was forcefully taken away from him by fate. It was like something inside of him was pulled away, and he started to revert to his old behaviour. He became quiet again, yet easily irritated and he barely talked with anyone unless it was necessary. He soon wasn’t able to live in Ba Sing Se anymore, because it hurts him too much, and so he decided to move cities and transfer to other police departments. That’s how he found himself working for the RCPD.

Personality
Satoshi is a quiet guy. He doesn’t really talk to anyone unless it necessary, and as a result, he gets disliked by a lot people. He doesn’t care though, because for him, the only friend he ever needed was Kazuya, and now that he’s dead, he doesn’t think anyone could ever take his place. He’s quickly irritated and hates annoying people, and will yell at them if they become too irritable. He’s also a bit impatient and short-tempered, but he manages to control this aspect of his personality at times. At work, he is focused and determined to do well. He doesn’t really care about his colleagues, all he cares about is himself and how he can do his job the best he can. He’s usually nice to people when he’s on duty and tries to be polite, but when people start pushing his buttons he gets annoyed easily. Other than that, he considers himself homosexual, but he is demiromantic.
