This Waterbender belongs to Merc

An observant and calculating woman, Sorano is one mute that could make most men uneasy. She unusually patient, as if she has all the time of the world and likes to let things run its course. However, what people don't know is that she's quite sadistic, often playing with her victims, even when they're a corpse. This has earned her the title being sort of...unhinged. They might even be right...

Sorano was brought into a life of death, the first casualty being her mother. In the beginning, everything was wonderful. Sorano was raised in the Northern Water Tribe and was loved deeply by her parents, cherishing her like the prizes of their lives. When her waterbending abilities manifested at the age of 6, they both taught her everything they, as they were waterbenders. But then, everything changed when Sorano's mother perished. She was still 6 years old at the time and her mother had contracted an unknown disease that none of the doctors or healers could cure. Sorano never even had a chance to say goodbye. In fact, her death caused her never to say another word ever again.

The death of her mother left the mind of Sorano's father asunder. Soon after she died, he started to drink and it became an addiction. An addiction that soon became his downfall. He started to become abusive, physically and verbally. He beat her mercilessly, mostly out of a drunken rage. For whatever reason, he blamed Sorano for her mother's death and she was at the mercy of her father, her mental drawbacks preventing her from speaking out. The pain broke her down, causing her to dwell into depression, often cutting herself with a small knife she had found. It hurt her, but it was the only thing that caused her to feel "something" and that something felt good. It was this knife that she kept with her always.

Whenever she wasn't cutting, she was self-teaching herself waterbending whenever her father left for the pub. The fluid motions, the sense of power she felt controlling the water, it put her in a calm state. Whenever she was around water, she felt calm and at peace. That is, until her father returned.

As she got older, more mature, Sorano's father started to...change. It started around the age of 16, as her body had matured and was curvaceous than normal. Instead of his usual abuse, he started to be more...provocative around her. He began to throw comments about her body, how much she looked just like her mother, even touching her inappropriately. Then, one night, her father came home extremely drunk while she was asleep. Instead of passing out on the couch like usual, he skulked into her bedroom. She awoke in time when he practically threw himself upon her. She tried with all her might to fight back, but he was simply too strong for her. The scene was disheartening and resulted in her losing her virginity. This is how she finally snapped. The last thing she remembered was reaching for her knife...

When she awoke, she found herself lying comfortably on her bed. Bad sign. As she sat up, she noticed that there was a lot of red covering her sheets. Another bad sign. As she looked on the floor, a sense of intense anticipation filled her as she knew what she was going to see. Sure enough, there was her father. Another casualty.

Five years later, Sorana was released from prison for good behavior. The first thing she did was buy a ticket out of the Northern Water Tribe. Her place of interest? Republic City. She didn't have many belongings, only the knife she kept with her, cash given to her by the wardens for her behavior, and a tragic past.
